Custom and Revolving Slice Planes

Inspect internal features from any angle.

Lumafield’s Voyager software offers powerful tools for detailed inspection and analysis with its Custom and Revolving Slice Planes. The custom slice tool allows you to define slice planes beyond the standard X-Y-Z planes, providing greater flexibility in viewing off-normal features. This capability enables users to tailor their slice planes to better analyze intricate parts and complex geometries, ensuring a thorough inspection process.

The Revolving Slice Plane tool takes this flexibility further by allowing users to define an axis and pivot point on any volume, then slice through the part by rotating around the pivot point. This tool is particularly useful for inspecting seals for leak paths, analyzing thread engagement, detecting wear between mating cylindrical parts, and conducting assembly analysis in fittings, tubing, and valves. By rotating the slice plane, users can easily visualize the internal features of such parts and identify any defects or wear, providing a more complete understanding of the part’s internal structure.

With these tools, users can create cross-sectional views from any angle, making it easier to inspect and analyze complex parts with intricate geometry. The Revolving Slice Plane tool provides a versatile solution for a wide range of applications, from ensuring the integrity of seals and threads to verifying the design of cylindrical parts. This enhanced inspection capability allows users to have more confidence in their analysis, leading to better quality control and improved product performance.

By leveraging Custom and Revolving Slice Planes, engineering teams can optimize their inspection processes, reduce the risk of overlooking critical defects, and enhance their overall understanding of part integrity. These features are designed to provide deeper insights, streamline analysis, and support the highest standards of quality in manufacturing and product development.
