Perform before-and-after studies and conduct longitudinal analyses.

Lumafield is excited to announce a new Voyager feature that builds upon the success of CAD Comparison: Scan to Scan Comparison, a powerful tool that allows users to compare any two scanned objects. This unlocks a variety of new potential applications, from studying wear over time to comparing different versions of parts without CAD data.

Industrial CT scans from Lumafield's Neptune scanner offer the richest data for Scan to Scan Comparison, but Voyager also accepts meshes from 3D surface scanners, and can compare the external features of parts.

One of the standout applications of Scan to Scan Comparison is in longitudinal studies, where users track the wear and lifetime performance of products. Designers of footwear and other athletic equipment, for example, have never been able to study their products over time without destroying them. With Scan to Scan Comparison, a shoe can be worn and scanned at various intervals up to the end of its intended life cycle.

Scan to Scan Comparison is equally useful in assessing tool wear across a manufacturing process, helping guarantee consistency and quality every step of the way. In instances where a "golden batch" of products cannot be replicated, Scan to Scan Comparison can help identify subtle differences between the successful batch and subsequent production runs, enabling manufacturers to refine their processes and maintain consistent quality. For parts without CAD files, Scan to Scan Comparison gives engineers the ability to analyze the differences between multiple versions or iterations of a product, allowing for more creativity and flexibility in the design process.

Running a Scan to Scan Comparison takes just a few minutes in Voyager. And with Atlas, our AI engineering co-pilot, it's even easier. Atlas guides the user through an alignment process, automatically visualizing the divergence between the two scanned parts.

Give your team the power of Scan to Scan Comparison to streamline workflows, enhance product evaluations, and gain valuable insights into product wear and lifetime testing.
